Terms of Service
The rules for pre-ordering or buying a band, using your profile, and Larp2Alt Plus. Short, clear, no tricks. Right now bands can only be pre-ordered (C$9.99, charged only if we hit 101 pre-orders; $0 is taken today); see Launch campaign below. Every band order is a PRE-ORDER. After you’re charged you have 3 days to cancel for a full refund (email support@larp2alt.com from the email address you ordered or pre-ordered with); then it’s final, except if we ship late, the band is defective, lost or never arrives, or we cancel. We may cancel any pre-order before it ships; you get a full refund.
01Key terms (summary)
The short version of what matters most when you pre-order or buy. It’s the same box you see, and tick, right above the button. The sections below give the details; if the summary and a section ever seem to differ, the reading that’s better for you applies.
Key terms
v2026-09-26.1- What this is
- A PRE-ORDER (campaign pre-order) of the Larp2Alt · Founders Edition (hand-assembled first run): C$9.99, charged only if we hit 101. Stripe saves your card and takes $0 today; we only make the bands if 101 pre-orders are made. Pre-orders close October 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET or the moment we hit 101, whichever comes first.
- Price
- 1 band: C$9.99 CAD, shipping included. If we hit 101 pre-orders by October 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET, your card is charged C$9.99; if we don't, you're never charged. $0 is taken today. Price-drop guarantee: we charge the amount shown when you pre-ordered, never more. If our price for the same bands (and shipping) is lower on the day we charge, we charge the lower price instead.
- When you're charged
- If we hit 101 pre-orders by October 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET, we charge the card you saved, once, for the amount above (never more), within 2 days of the close — you do not confirm again, and by pre-ordering you authorize that one charge. We email you before we charge. If we don't hit 101, you're never charged. If your bank asks for verification or the card fails, we email you a secure pay link (unpaid after 7 days = cancelled, nothing owed).
- Ships
- Within 7 weeks after your card is charged (we aim for about 6). If we'll be late, we email you before then and you can cancel for a full refund.
- Delivery
- It arrives within about 8 business days after it ships, so at the latest 7 weeks and 8 business days after your card is charged. Free Canada Post Lettermail, no tracking (orders of 3+ bands ship tracked for free). Campaign pre-orders can't add paid tracking. It ships to the address you enter in your bag (email us to change it). We ship to Canada only (except Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, for now).
- Not funded
- If we don't hit 101 by October 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET, you're never charged, and we delete your saved card from our Stripe account.
- You can cancel
- Before we charge you: cancel free anytime, nothing is charged. After we charge you: cancel within 3 days of the charge and we refund everything (shipping included) within 15 days of your request. After that the order is final, because we order your band's parts. Exceptions, always: if we're late shipping, you can cancel for a full refund; defective, lost or never delivered: we replace it or refund you in full; we may cancel any pre-order before it ships, with a full refund.
- We can cancel
- We may cancel any pre-order at any time before it ships, for any reason (for example if we can't produce it). If we do, you get a full refund (or, if we haven't charged you yet, you're simply never charged), and we owe nothing beyond that refund.
- Lost or defective
- Never arrived (tell us within 30 days of shipping) or defective: we replace it or refund you in full. Unused returns within 30 days of delivery. Email us first and we'll send return instructions. Please don't mail anything to our business address: it can't accept parcels.
- The band
- A watch-style silicone NFC wristband, hand-assembled: its built-in chip under the raised face on the outside of your wrist is your LARP side; a second NTAG213 chip, sealed on the inside of the band's bottom against your wrist (not visible from outside), is your ALT side. The LARP2ALT logo is printed along the side of the strap. Splash-resistant (rain, sweat, hand-washing), not for swimming. Works with most NFC phones (recent iPhones and most NFC Android phones), no app. Size: Adjustable · fits most wrists. Colour: black.
- Age
- You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live), or have a parent or guardian place the order. Not for children under 13.
- Liability
- Where the law allows, our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law.
- Law
- Ontario law and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. You keep the consumer rights of the province or state where you live.
- Seller
- Larp2Alt, Ontario, Canada. Email support@larp2alt.com. Full seller details (legal name, address, phone) are in the Terms.

02The deal
By buying a band, creating an account, or using Larp2Alt, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
Larp2Alt is run from Ontario, Canada. “We” and “us” mean the Larp2Alt business, which sells you the band and runs the service. Our full details are in Who you’re buying from.
Before you pre-order or pay, you tick a box that says “I've read the Key terms and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.” Checkout can’t start until you do. We record which version of these terms you agreed to (the version number at the top of this page) and when, and that version applies to your order. Later changes never apply to an order you’ve already placed, and every version stays readable at its own address (this one: /terms/2026-09-26.1).
Your copy. Right after checkout, the confirmation page shows your full agreement (you can print it or save it as a PDF), and we email you a copy titled “Your Larp2Alt pre-order agreement”: seller details, your order reference, what you ordered, the itemized total and currency, the charge condition and timing, when it ships and is delivered, your cancellation rights and how to cancel, returns, and a link to the exact version of these terms, as Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 requires (within 15 days at the latest). If you don’t get it within a day, email support@larp2alt.com.

04Launch campaign (campaign pre-orders)
Our first production run only happens if enough people want it. While the launch campaign is open, every band order is a campaign pre-order: a conditional sale that only goes ahead if the goal below is met. It saves your card with Stripe and takes $0 today. It is not a free sign-up. If we hit 101 pre-orders by October 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET, your card is charged C$9.99; if we don't, you're never charged. (that is one band delivered; more bands cost more, and the exact amount is in your bag and in the Key terms before you tick the box).
- The goal and the dates. We need 101 pre-orders (orders, not bands). The campaign closes the moment we reach 101, or at the end date (October 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET), whichever comes first. The counter on the site shows the real number of standing pre-orders; we never inflate it and our own test orders don’t count.
- What happens today. When you pre-order, Stripe (our payment processor) securely saves your card and we take $0 today. That is not a discount and not a free sign-up: if the goal is met we charge the full amount below. We never see or store your full card number.
- The amount. It’s the price of your bands plus the shipping for your market (free in Canada), shown in your bag, in the Key terms and on your confirmation. We never charge more than that.
- Price-drop guarantee. If our price for the same bands (and shipping, in the same currency) is lower on the day we charge you than when you pre-ordered, we charge the lower price instead. If it’s higher, you still pay the amount you pre-ordered at.
- If the goal is met. You authorize us to charge your saved card once, for that amount (or less, under the price-drop guarantee), within 2 days after the campaign closes. You don’t need to confirm again: ticking the box at checkout is your consent to that one later charge. We’ll email you before we charge, with the amount and the date, so you can still cancel for free; Stripe emails your receipt. If your bank asks for verification or your card fails, we email you a secure pay link; if it isn’t paid within 7 days, your pre-order is cancelled and you owe nothing.
- When it ships and arrives. Each funded pre-order ships within 7 weeks after your card is charged (we aim for about 6 weeks after we hit 101). We charge within 2 days of the close, and if we hit 101 early the campaign closes that day, so everything starts sooner. Transit then takes up to about 8 business days, so your delivery is within 7 weeks and 8 business days after your card is charged (also in the Key terms). Campaign pre-orders ship with the market’s standard shipping (Canada: free Canada Post Lettermail, no tracking; orders of 3+ bands tracked for free) and can’t add paid tracking.
- Where. Campaign pre-orders ship to the address you enter in your bag, in Canada only (except Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, for now). We can’t accept a pre-order for delivery in Quebec, Manitoba or Saskatchewan yet; if one is made, we cancel it and you’re never charged.
- If the goal isn’t met by the end date, we don’t make the run and you’re never charged. We release every pre-order, delete the saved card details from our Stripe account, and email everyone who pre-ordered.
- You can cancel for free any time before we charge you: email support@larp2alt.com from the address you pre-ordered with. You won’t be charged. After we’ve charged you, you have 3 days from the charge to cancel for a full refund (shipping included) to your original payment method within 15 days of your cancellation. After those 3 days your pre-order is final, because we order your band's parts. These always still apply: if we’re late shipping, you can cancel for a full refund (see “If we’re late”); a defective, lost or never-delivered band is replaced or refunded in full; and we may cancel any pre-order before it ships, with a full refund. Returns of unused bands within 30 days of delivery work as described in Orders, shipping and returns.
- We can cancel too. We may cancel any pre-order at any time before it ships, for any reason (for example if we can't produce it). If we do, you get a full refund (or, if we haven't charged you yet, you're simply never charged), and we owe nothing beyond that refund. See Our right to cancel.
- If we’re late. If we can't ship by the promised date, we email you before it with a new date, and you can cancel for a full refund. If the new date is no more than 30 days later, you keep your order unless you cancel. If it's more than 30 days later, if we can't give a firm new date, or if we miss the new date too, we cancel and refund you in full unless you tell us you want to keep waiting. (The same rule as the US FTC Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule.)
- After we hit the goal. New orders placed after the campaign closes are regular paid pre-orders (see Pre-orders below), not campaign pre-orders, until the Founders run is sold out: we only sell as many bands as we can make for it, and then checkout closes.
These promises add to, and never replace, your rights under consumer protection law, including your right under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 to cancel an internet agreement if the goods aren’t delivered within 30 days after the delivery period above ends, and to receive your refund within 15 days of cancelling.
05Our right to cancel
We may cancel any pre-order at any time before it ships, for any reason (for example if we can't produce it). If we do, you get a full refund (or, if we haven't charged you yet, you're simply never charged), and we owe nothing beyond that refund.
Reasons could include: we can’t produce the bands to our standard, a supplier falls through, costs change so the run isn’t viable, an order looks fraudulent, or we can’t ship to your address. We’ll tell you by email. If you’ve paid anything, the refund is the full amount you paid (bands and shipping) to your original payment method within 15 days. If you placed a campaign pre-order and weren’t charged yet, you’re simply never charged and we delete your saved card. We don’t owe anything beyond that refund, except where consumer protection law says otherwise.
06Pre-orders
Bands are made to order. Once the launch campaign closes funded (at the goal or the end date), new band orders are paid pre-orders. When an order is a pre-order, that’s shown next to the price and the buy button before you pay.
- Payment. We charge your payment method in full when you place your order. The total you see at checkout is the total you pay; there are no extra charges later.
- Ship date. Your order ships within 7 weeks after your card is charged (that is, of the day you order, since you pay then; we aim for about 6 weeks). The latest date (your ship-by date) is shown on your order confirmation. Your delivery date is the ship-by date plus up to about 8 business days in transit, also shown on your confirmation (see Orders, shipping and returns below).
- Cancel within 3 days of paying. For any reason, email support@larp2alt.com from the address you ordered with, within 3 days of the charge (your agreement email and confirmation show the exact deadline). We refund everything you paid, including shipping, to your original payment method within 15 days of your cancellation. After that your pre-order is final, because we order your band's parts, except: if we’re late shipping you can cancel for a full refund (below); a defective, lost or never-delivered band is replaced or refunded in full; and we may cancel any pre-order before it ships, with a full refund.
- If we don’t go ahead. If we decide not to make a production run, we’ll cancel every unshipped pre-order, refund it in full and tell you by email (see Our right to cancel).
These promises add to, and never replace, your rights under consumer protection law, including your right under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 to cancel an internet agreement if the goods aren’t delivered within 30 days of the delivery date.
07Your band
What you’re buying: the Larp2Alt · Founders Edition (hand-assembled first run). A watch-style silicone NFC wristband, hand-assembled: its built-in chip under the raised face on the outside of your wrist is your LARP side; a second NTAG213 chip, sealed on the inside of the band's bottom against your wrist (not visible from outside), is your ALT side. The LARP2ALT logo is printed along the side of the strap. We hand-assemble each band, write both chips to your band’s own links, lock them and test each side before it ships. It is not the factory-moulded design we plan for a later edition, and it looks a little different from the illustrations on our site. Size: Adjustable · fits most wrists. Colour: black.
The two chips (Larp and Alt) open your Larp2Alt page in the tapper’s browser. It works with most NFC phones (recent iPhones and most NFC Android phones); NFC reading depends on the tapper’s phone, its settings and case, so we can’t guarantee every phone will read every tap. Every band also comes with a pocket card whose QR code opens your Larp side as a backup.
To use a band you activate it with the code and PIN included in the box. Keep the PIN private. If your band is lost or stolen, disable it from your dashboard.
08Orders, shipping and returns
We sell to Canada only (except Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, for now). We don’t take orders or pre-orders for delivery in Quebec, Manitoba or Saskatchewan yet (for Quebec: our terms and checkout are only in English); if one is placed, we cancel it with a full refund (or, for a campaign pre-order not yet charged, you’re never charged). Canadian orders are priced in Canadian dollars (CAD) and include shipping. We don’t ship to the US or anywhere outside Canada yet. The price per band depends on how many bands are in your order, and you’ll see the full total, including shipping, any optional tracked-shipping upgrade (paid orders only; campaign pre-orders use the standard option) and any tax we’re required to charge, before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe.
We ship from Ontario, Canada. Campaign pre-orders ship as described in Launch campaign above; paid pre-orders ships in about 6 weeks, and at the latest within 7 weeks after your card is charged (see Pre-orders). In Canada, standard shipping is Canada Post Lettermail without tracking, and delivery times depend on the carrier. Orders of 3+ bands ship tracked for free (Canada).
Lost in the mail. Lost in the mail? Email us within 30 days of shipping. Untracked orders get one free replacement, and we deactivate the original band so no one else can use it. Tracked orders follow the carrier's tracking. Every band records when it's activated, so we can confirm delivery. Email support@larp2alt.com. For an untracked order, a free replacement is our first remedy; when we send one, the original band is deactivated. For a tracked order, the carrier’s tracking shows whether it was delivered. If a replacement also doesn’t arrive, or your order truly never arrived and you’d rather not wait for one, we refund you in full, including any shipping and import duties charge. A band that was activated after we shipped it (set up or claimed with the PIN card packed inside the envelope) counts as delivered.
If your band arrives damaged or a chip doesn’t work, email support@larp2alt.com within 30 days of delivery and we’ll replace it free. Unused and in the original packaging? Return it within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the band price. One adjustable size fits most wrists. If it doesn't fit you, return it unused within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the band price. Refunds go back to your original payment method.
Returns and defects. Email us first and we'll send return instructions. Please don't mail anything to our business address: it can't accept parcels. Our business address (in Who you’re buying from) is for letters only.
09Product care and safety
- The strap is made of silicone. If your skin gets red, itchy or irritated, take the band off, wash the area and stop wearing it; see a doctor if it doesn’t clear up.
- It’s splash-resistant (rain, sweat, hand-washing), not waterproof and not for swimming. Take it off for pools, hot tubs and saunas, and don’t heat, microwave or cut it. Don’t pick at or peel the inner tag. Clean it with mild soap and water.
- Wear it loose enough to fit a finger underneath. Don’t sleep in it if it feels tight.
- It’s not a toy. Keep it away from young children and pets: a chewed band can become a choking hazard.
- It’s a way to share links, not a medical, safety, identification, access or payment device. Don’t rely on it to carry emergency or medical information.
10Plus subscription
Larp2Alt Plus is an optional automatically renewing subscription for people who have a band. It costs C$1.99 CAD per month or C$19.99 CAD per year (plus any applicable tax). You can subscribe once your band has arrived and you’ve set it up. Once you’ve subscribed in one currency, later subscriptions on your account are billed in that same currency.
- Automatic renewal. You’re charged when you subscribe and then at the start of every billing period (every month or every year, the interval you picked), at the same price, until you cancel. The price, the interval and this renewal rule are shown next to the button, and you tick a box to agree to them before checkout opens; we record that consent (the version of the wording and when you gave it) with your subscription.
- Cancel anytime, online. Go to Account → Manage billing and choose Cancel plan (Stripe’s secure billing portal). It takes a few clicks, with no call or email needed. You can also email support@larp2alt.com and we’ll cancel for you. You keep Plus until the end of the period you’ve paid for and aren’t charged again; we don’t refund partial periods unless the law requires it.
- Price changes. If we change the price, we email you in advance, before the renewal it applies to; the new price applies only from that renewal, and you can cancel before then. Yearly subscribers get a reminder email before each yearly renewal.
- Your confirmation and receipts. When you subscribe we email you a confirmation you can keep, with the price, the renewal terms and how to cancel. Stripe also emails a receipt for every charge.
Your band, both sides, unlimited links and receiving exchanges keep working without Plus. If Plus ends, you keep your data; features like your full People I Met history, notes, event mode and expiring links are locked until you subscribe again.
11Age and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use Larp2Alt. To pre-order or order you must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live: 19 in some provinces and states); if you’re younger, a parent or guardian must place the order and agree to these terms for you. Larp2Alt isn’t marketed to children under 13.
You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in email secure and for what happens on your account.
12Your content
You own what you put on your profile. You give us permission to store it and show it to people who tap or scan your band, which is the whole point. You’re responsible for making sure it’s accurate and that you have the right to share it.
Don’t use Larp2Alt to:
- impersonate someone else or share other people’s personal information without permission;
- link to anything illegal, harmful, hateful, sexually explicit, or designed to deceive (like phishing or malware);
- spam people through “Send yours back”, or try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Page setup (included). After you pre-order you can give us a name and contacts for your page on the order confirmation page. You confirm those details are yours to share. We apply them only when your band is claimed by an account signed in with the email on that order, and only if that account has no links yet; after that you can edit or delete anything in your dashboard, anytime. It’s optional, and how we handle those details is in our Privacy Policy.
13Tappers and exchanges
People who tap a band don’t need an account. If a tapper sends their details back, they’re choosing to share them with that band’s owner only. Band owners must use those details respectfully and must not sell them or add people to marketing lists without consent.
14Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Larp2Alt running, but the service is provided “as is” and may occasionally be unavailable. We may improve, change or discontinue features. If we ever shut the service down, we’ll give reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
15Liability
To the extent the law allows, Larp2Alt isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses (like lost contacts, lost opportunities or lost data), or for what other people do with the details you choose to share. Our total liability for any claim about an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order (a campaign pre-order that was never charged: nothing), and for any other claim to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived, including Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002, the equivalent laws of your province, and, if you live in the US, the consumer laws of your state. Where those laws give you more, you get more.
16Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from your account page (Account → Delete account), or by emailing support@larp2alt.com. Deleting your account cancels any Plus subscription straight away, so you won’t be charged again, and removes your profile photo. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. The band itself is yours to keep either way.
17Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you live in another province or in the US, you also keep the protections of the consumer laws where you live, and you can bring a claim there.
18Changes and contact
We may update these terms. Each version has a number and an effective date (top of this page); if the changes are significant we’ll notify account holders. Changes never apply to an order or pre-order you’ve already placed: the version you agreed to at checkout applies to it. Questions, cancellations or complaints: email support@larp2alt.com. A person reads every message.
